This informative and educational website is initiated by Ed Annink (1956-2012), Ontwerpwerk design bureau, and is realized in close cooperation with Peter Arntz (1924-2009), son of Gerd Arntz, and the Municipal Museum of The Hague, administrator of the Gerd Arntz archive.
We did our utmost to make Gerd Arntz’s work accessible for a large public, because it is part of our cultural heritage and we believe his work is of great importance for the world of contemporary visual communication. We do realize that this web archive does not show the complete oeuvre of Gerd Arntz. We will, however, try and develop the content over the coming years, together with the Municipal Museum of The Hague.
Many thanks to Peter Arntz, for enthusiastically providing us with invaluable information about his father’s life, work and ideals; to the Municipal Museum of The Hague, for opening their archive for us; and to the Memory of the Netherlands Foundation for coordinating the digitization of the complete archive. Without the financial support of Statistics Netherlands (CBS) and the Municipality of The Hague – Creative City, Gerd Arntz’ inspiring archive would still be invisible for the public.
